The latest BIM software from GRAPHISOFT was announced recently. ArchiCAD 17 will be shipping soon. The company has also announced an upcoming free online seminar that will familiarize you with all the new features and enhancements to the software.
Scheduled for June 18, the demonstration of ArchiCAD 17 will feature the actual model used to design one of Moscow's most prestigious buildings, the Mosfilmovskaya Street multi-purpose building complex.

That complex, designed by Sergey Skuratov Architects in ArchiCAD, has become ArchiCAD 17’s ‘signature building’. It was built inside the only vacant area with several city blocks and is located very close to the wide, open spaces of Poklonnaya Gora and the valley of the Setun River. The existing urban terrain dictated the design – which originated as two, slightly different yet symmetrical pairs of buildings. The skyscraper has become a defining structure in the neighborhood, given that it is visible from well-known lookout points throughout the whole of Moscow and is placed in an area famous from lush green landscapes of Moscow State University campus and the “Mosfilm” movie studios.
Using that extremely detailed model, the online seminar will give participants a chance to see how ArchiCAD 17 provides a one-of-a-kind BIM-based documentation workflow - that can handle a large building complex - providing automatic junctions and live 3D plane cutting. With the new features found in ArchiCAD 17, architects can access a simplified modeling and documentation process - on building models that are made up of extremely high levels of detail.
GRAPHISOFT has engineered ArchiCAD 17 in such a way that even with such complexity - the model will stay live until the very end of the project. From GRAPHISOFT’s release detailing the software’s features, that's thanks to improved industry-first background processing support, users can generate even the most complex model details without slowing down their work in the process.
The online seminar will also cover the ways in which ArchiCAD 17 allows users to go green with their design - as ArchiCAD 17 includes improved energy evaluation built in to the software. The built-in energy evaluation functionality applies standard compliant technology while supporting multiple thermal blocks so that designs can be checked for energy use and efficiency from the beginning of their creation.
